The data have been uploaded to Socrata so you can browse online and create visualizations.

A few notes on using the data in Socrata:

  1. Some columns have been added to make the data more usable. The data as originally provided used alphanumeric codes to refer to schools and LEAs in most places. We added “lea_name” and “school_name” columns to the tables that contained these codes to ease analysis. In some cases, the LEA and school codes didn’t seem to correspond to valid LEAs or schools in the system; in these cases, the corresponding name column is simply blank.
  2. It is unlikely, but possible, that our manipulation of the tables to add these columns introduced errors in the data. We recommend that you use the CSV- or Access-format originals to confirm any results. Please let us know if you find discrepancies.
  3. The data dictionary will likely be helpful to you in understanding the tables and columns you see.
